Marvin Pentz Gay, Jr., better know as his stage name Marvin Gaye was born April 2nd, 1939 . He was one of the only famous influential black singer song-writers in America at the time with a four octave vocal range, courageous enough to pursue his dream. He started out in a band called “The Moonglows” in the early fifties, until he ventured into a solo career 6 years later. After doing well as a solo singer, Marvin became a drummer for some of his songs. This lead Gaye to end up ranking as the label's top-selling solo artist during the sixties. Marvin was also ranked number 18 out of 100 in the greatest artists of all time, and was ranked number 6 on the list of the greatest singers of all time in, rolling stones magazine, 2008. When he was only 44 years old it was to said to be that he was shot dead April 1st, 1984 by his jealous father. Other say the he died of acute phenomena.
