1. I think that he really wanted to perform to his best potential, and really shine, and he just couldn't do that as part of a group. It might have been constricting him, his band members perhaps making a lot of decisions for him.
ReplyDelete2. Marvin's dad could have been motivated by jealousy - after all, it was quite clear that his son was more famous than him. On the other hand, it could have been something entirely different, perhaps family related.
3. I hear a lot of voices, drums, some sort of brass wind instrument, a cello or bass, some piano, and possibly some sort of metallaphone or xylophone.
4. I personally like the line, "Oh, but who are they to judge us." It's a very true statement/question/lyric. People shouldn't judge each other.
5. I think he was thinking about a lot of the brutality between the races, and all of the protests and wars. This song is very much about equality and fairness.
